Ballmer: "Vista and Office 07 biggest launch event in Microsoft's history"

Amid the typical marketing hyperboles tossed around at today's launch event at Nasdaq, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer made one statement very clear. He referred to today as the biggest launch event in the company's history and deemed Vista and Office 2007 "the two most significant releases we've ever done."
Including all components to the two headlining product launches, more than 30 new Microsoft products were made available today for businesses, like the new Exchange Server, a new rights management infrastructure for Office, and the flagship "enterprise" editions of both Vista and Office 07.

Anti-MS group aims to block Microsoft from releasing Windows Vista

A public interest lawyer who is also intending to run as a Republican in the 2006 Illinois gubernatorial race is taking his fight to Microsoft in hopes of preventing the company from releasing what he calls "bad code." Andy Martin of The Committee to Fight Microsoft on Tuesday announced his intentions to block Microsoft from releasing Windows Vista. Martin intends to ask Microsoft for an unconditional warranty that the operating system is free of bugs that could result in security vulnerabilities.

Microsoft recommends standalone graphics cards for Vista users

The last couple of years there has been a ongoing trend towards integrated graphics cores in office and home personal computers. However this might change when Vista is released next year as Microsoft recommends those who would like to install Windows Vista, to get standalone graphics cards due to their higher performance when rendering graphics user interface (GUI) of the upcoming operating system (OS).

Microsoft just announced the beta release of an assortment of operating systems (OS), tools and programs that intend to elevate user experience and productivity when using the next version of its operating systems and programs. Although most of these new offerings will not be ready for official release before one and a half to two and a half years by now, they already get a lot of attention through the online publication press.

PCMAG share their experience after trying their hands on Windows Vista Beta 1. The Beta 1 version is aimed at developers and IT shops, and obviously lacks many of features that will be seen in the final version of Windows Vista, which is still over a year away. However, it does give a good impression of what Microsoft is trying to achieve with Vista.
